About BRC CSA- our BRC Boers & CSA facebook page is the very best way to get constantly updated information.
Our Community Supported Agriculture farm operates by offering shares of available or soon to be available meats and produce. You do not recieve a monthly box or have to pick up at the farm gate. Although we encourage people who purchase shares to see where their food was grown.
Our CSA works by selling the live animal, or half or quarter, and having it professionally slaughtered. We take your order for your prefferred sizes of packages, cuts and any cured products. You pick up directly from the butcher or we try to help you with delivery. This keeps more of your food dollars directly impacting our community.
You can be assured that we are experienced farmers/ranchers and know how we like to grow our animals. We would never use any low dose antibiotics or growth hormones to feed something that we would eat. And we eat everything we grow so you know your family will never eat meat that has chemical residues in it.
We like to grow our meat animals Slowly. For some types that means whole grains and pasture or range and for others that means completely grass fed. A meat animal that develops slowly may take longer to get to harvest. This meat animal will also have a developed flavor and quality of life that growing for fast growth and harvest just does not offer.
Our method also takes advantage of seasonal living by growing animals and produce during the times of the year that are optimum for browsing and grazing. This means traditional harvest times beginning in the summer and ending in the late fall for stocking up, canning and freezing.
